Overview
Nikos Varelas will be your guide and cast light on the mysteries of the ancient tympanon. With music experience for more than two decades, studies in Greece and Turkey, and focus on both Greek and Middle East frame drums, he is one of the few Greek percussionists who regularly participate in ancient music bands.
Apart from being an amazing musician, Nikos is an equally cool tutor with studies and teaching experience in Greece and abroad, both with young and adult students. He teaches both in English and Greek.

What to expect

Υou will have the chance to hear and play an ancient Greek frame-drum, called tympanon, and try to sync with the rhythm of ancient worshiping rituals. How are we going to do that?
First, we will take a closer look at typical Greek rhythms and play all together in order to realize how cool is the feeling of participating in a music band. What’s more, we will have the chance to experiment with different percussions and realize that music is for everyone and not only for the musicians!
